Cross, a cooking organiser designed for the visually impaired, to help accuracy and build confidence when plating up.
The premise of Cross was to help build back the confidence lost through the hardest stage of visual impairment - between your impairment going from minor, to completely diminishing. The product has a number of different features -shown on the images below- that aid the user in this difficult time, though most prevalent is the plating organiser. The silicon matt consists of two holds that are located on the surface, these are to hold any shaped plate and pan side by side, so the user knows the distance between the two are the same every time, thus one can accurately move food from their pan to plate.
After the ideation phase it was important to me to thoroughly test the concepts I was creating, to fully understand how they needed to be developed. Below are a few of the concepts I developed using general house-hold goods.
Finally, I got to a stage where my product was ready.
